Large-scale security and human mobilization to contain a devastating fire in the forests of Chefchaouen province

Broad alert and field monitoring by regional authorities

A devastating fire broke out this Friday morning in the Tangaya forest, located in the Abrouj area of the Bab Taza district, triggering a large-scale mobilization of relevant authorities to control the blaze as quickly as possible and prevent its spread.

In this context, the Governor of Chefchaouen province, Zakaria Houda, traveled personally to the site to supervise the intervention operations and closely monitor the efforts being made to contain the fire.

Comprehensive mobilization of human and logistical resources

To prevent the flames from spreading across rugged terrain, the relevant authorities have deployed significant human and logistical resources. Field operations involve elements from the Waters and Forests services, Civil Protection, local authorities, Auxiliary Forces, and the Royal Gendarmerie.

These efforts are also supported by national service personnel, representatives of the territorial commune, and the local population, who have volunteered to assist rescue and firefighting crews in containing the danger.

Aerial support via „Canadair” aircraft

To strengthen ground interventions, „Canadair” aircraft specialized in forest firefighting have been deployed, carrying out precise aerial drops to target fire hotspots.

These air operations are receiving intense ground support from tanker trucks and all-terrain vehicles, which have been allocated for rapid intervention and access to difficult and steep paths.

Continuous efforts to limit environmental losses

Field data confirm that the ground and aerial teams are continuing their intensive efforts to gain full control of the fire and contain it, with the aim of limiting forest and environmental losses in the region.
