In a firm administrative move, the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in Fez issued a decision on Friday to temporarily suspend a secondary education inspector, following his involvement in a sexual harassment case against a teacher working under the same directorate.

Details of the administrative decision and judicial proceedings

According to informed sources, the administrative suspension decision also includes the freezing of the individual’s monthly salary, excluding family allowances, running parallel to the judicial proceedings initiated by the public prosecutor’s office. The provincial directorate has also decided to refer the inspector to the disciplinary council, which is expected to convene in the coming days to review the charges.

It should be noted that the King’s Prosecutor at the competent court has charged the inspector while remaining at liberty, facing serious accusations including “sexual harassment via electronic messages and recordings of a sexual nature”, in addition to the charge of “incitement to prostitution”. The trial before the correctional chamber is scheduled to begin on October 20, 2026.

According to the same sources, the decision to allow the suspect to remain at liberty was made in consideration of the accused inspector’s health conditions, especially after the victimized teacher submitted an official withdrawal of the complaint previously investigated by the judicial police.

The details of the incident stem from the teacher receiving a series of messages via WhatsApp containing sexual insinuations and demands from the inspector, which prompted the victim to file a complaint. During confrontations conducted by the judicial police, the inspector did not deny sending the messages, claiming he did not know the identity of the person he was communicating with, whereas the teacher insisted that the inspector’s intent was to coerce him into an unwanted sexual relationship.
