Migrant assaults in Ceuta land Spanish soldiers in Madrid operating rooms

Incident details and the stance of the Spanish Ministry of Defense
The Spanish Ministry of Defense confirmed, in an official statement, that two Spanish soldiers are currently receiving treatment at the “Gómez Ulla” Military Hospital in Madrid, following physical assaults by migrants while performing their field duties within the armed forces units deployed in the city of Ceuta.
In this context, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles visited the injured soldiers to check on their health, confirming that she is closely monitoring the situation. However, the Ministry did not provide precise data on the nature of the injuries or details regarding the timing of these assaults.
Official support and growing professional demands
The Spanish Ministry of Defense expressed its full support for those injured, emphasizing through its official account on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter) that members of the armed forces remain committed to performing their professional duty toward the city of Ceuta with high efficiency, expressing its absolute solidarity with everyone who has been harmed while performing their official duties.
It is worth noting that this incident is not the first of its kind, as the city has recorded similar cases of military personnel being assaulted by migrants who arrived in the city last July. These developments have stirred concern among military professional associations, which have demanded that the Spanish government grant members of the armed forces the necessary powers to use “proportionate force”, in order to address what they describe as a state of “lack of protection” to which they are exposed while present in the field.
