RNI’s Vision for Generalizing Solar Energy in Moroccan Homes

A Qualitative Leap in Morocco’s Domestic Energy System
In a move aimed at enhancing the energy independence of Moroccan citizens, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party has unveiled an integrated vision within its 2026-2031 program, aimed at transforming rooftops into small power-generating stations through solar energy. This project does not only aim to protect the environment but places the purchasing power of families at the core of its concerns.
An Innovative Financing Model to Overcome Cost Barriers
Mohamed Chouki, President of the party’s parliamentary group, explained that the biggest obstacle facing families was the high cost of initial equipment. To overcome this, the program proposes an intelligent financing mechanism that allows families to install solar panels without the need for large upfront payments, with the equipment costs recovered gradually through the savings achieved in monthly electricity bills.
From Consumer to Producer: A Strategic Transformation
This program aims to cause a radical shift in the family’s role within the energy system; having been a mere consumer, the citizen will now become an electricity producer. This transformation will enable families to cover a significant portion of their daily needs and even feed excess energy back into the national grid, opening new horizons for contributing to the energy transition underway in the Kingdom.
Protecting Vulnerable Groups Against Price Volatility
The program has not overlooked social protection, proposing a series of parallel measures to shield low-income families from global price fluctuations. Among these key proposals is the maintenance of a preferential tariff for lower consumption brackets and the inclusion of energy prices in the inflation index, ensuring an automatic update of direct social support in the event of any sudden rise in energy costs.
With these proposals, the RNI party seeks to integrate environmental sustainability with economic security, making solar technology accessible to everyone and alleviating the financial burden on Moroccan families in the long term.
